Dr. Rochelle Tractenberg is a research methodologist specializing in designs and analyses with “difficult to measure” outcomes in biomedical and educational studies. She is a tenured professor in the Department of Neurology, with secondary appointments in the Departments of Biostatistics, Bioinformatics & Biomathematics and Rehabilitation Medicine at Georgetown University. She is also a Research Fellow at the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington, DC. That’s her “day job”; this site is an exploration of what she does “for fun”: leveraging her two PhDs to promote innovative stewardship in science, practice, and higher education. Any one of these can seem as daunting as traversing the North Atlantic (i.e., rough!); this site is intended to smooth your path irrespective of your scientific field; whether you consider your practice to be “instruction”, “research”, or a combination of these. It is also irrespective of your level in higher education. You will find the occasional blog post, but the site is more of a sign post to help visitors find support for their stewardship, teaching, learning, ethical statistical practice, or combination-of-these activities.
You might be looking for my two 2022 books, Ethical Reasoning for a Data-Centered World or Ethical Practice of Statistics and Data Science. These links send you to the publisher’s site because Amazon marked the prices up significantly. Both are available in hard or paperback. A review of both books appeared in the Journal of Public Health (Naumova, E.N. Navigating the ethical landscape: a review of Rochelle Tractenberg’s ethical reasoning and practice. J Public Health Pol (2024)).
